Biography

Research Interests:
As a microbiologist, bacterial pathogens of zoonotic importance associated with food animals are most interesting to me. A very common way of getting zoonotic infection is through coming in contact with infected animals or consuming contaminated food animal products. Foodborne illness from zoonotic pathogens is a global health issue and ensuring food safety is becoming more challenging.

I am interested in studying the human-foodanimal-environment interface of these zoonotic foodborne pathogens with a focus on anthropogenic impacts and antimicrobial resistance (AMR). I believe such 'One Health’ approach is inevitable to better understand the disease dynamics of the foodborne zoonotic pathogens and to develop sustainable preventive measures to control the pathogens.

Background:

  • M.S. in Cell Molecular Biology St. Cloud State University, MN, USA
  • B. S. In Microbiology North South University, Bangladesh

Current Projects:
My dissertation is focused on investigating the role of peridomestic rodents in spreading zoonotic foodborne pathogens and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in food animal operations and urban premises.
